Simple Steps to Reduce Cat’s Anxiety

Posted on 03/06/2021 by Leah Ammerman

Even if you love your kitty, there is no denying that an anxious and stressed cat can be extremely annoying and disruptive. They are equally good at dealing with stress and anxiety. Inappropriate behavior is often their only way of letting you know that something is not perfect. Of course, your cat may be shy or have an anxious or stress-prone personality, all you need to know about cat behaviors and how to get a new one home. Many unique circumstances can trigger stress in a cat, such as poor physical health, the change of being away from the owner for an extended period. Fortunately, there are simple steps you can take to reduce your cat’s anxiety.

Determine Your Cat’s Anxiety

First, you need to determine the cause of your cat’s anxiety. If you don’t know what your cat is suffering from, you won’t be able to treat it successfully. Most of the time, cat owners are essentially in contact with their pets, they also can figure out the leading cause of the problems without much difficulty. If a specific event caused stress, it would be easiest to eliminate or reduce that event’s effects. Realistically, this may not be possible, but there are some activities you can do to help your cat manage stress and tension.

Inspect Your Cat’s Environment

Just as humans need peace when they are worried, so do cats. Turn down the TV volume and make sure to keep other loud noises to a minimum, especially the screaming or crying of small children. Let your kitten say goodbye in a quiet place and make it as comfortable as possible. At the very least, offer your cat its place to hide if it feels like it. Also, provide him with a suitable scratching post. Scratching is a way to relieve stress. Many women and men make the mistake of buying cat scratching posts that are too small for adult cats.

Play With Your Cat

My presence helps her gain confidence, and she starts to become much more independent. Invite your kitty to do with different cat items. Neko Flies cat toys are very popular, but there are many others to choose from. Also, try to change the toys every day or two so your cat doesn’t get bored. You could buy cat toys that contain catnip. However, be careful about your cat’s reaction to catnip as it can trigger aggression.

Use Calming Products

It works by releasing synthetic pheromones that can be retained, can reduce tension and stress in cats. The scent calms the cat’s pheromones, making the kitten feel protected and safe. I must admit that this can be a somewhat expensive method. You will usually need at least one outlet per floor, depending on the size of your home. Because of the potential fire hazard, I have a problem leaving speakers plugged in immediately or not in the flat. I’m sure the fire risk is pretty low, but that’s my preference. I haven’t experienced any adverse effects inside my cats, so I do, plus it takes a little longer to charge. Of course, many other types of calming products can help with your cat’s anxiety.

Review Your Cat’s Health

Examine your kitty for any mishaps and look into his ears to see if he has any ear discomfort. If you are concerned about your cat’s health, visit your vet for a check-up. It may work because blood tests are essential to determine an underlying health condition causing your cat’s anxiety. This guide is accurate and truthful to the best of the author’s knowledge.
