spot check

world spot check Spot check is the section on step-on mag where we check out the hottest spots at the given time of year....anything from a snowpark to cliff drops and kicker spots, to secluded surf coves or inner city skate spots....we've got them in check....each month we pick a new spot which is going off somewhere around the world and get the rundown from the locals...

silvretta nova

Austria is home to some of the worlds most famous ski and snowboard resorts; Aximer Lixum, St. Anton, Innsbruck, the list goes on. One place which seems to be somewhat off the radar for foreign visitors is Silvretta Nova. This gem of a resort gets some of the best snowfall in Europe. With incredible natural terrain, it's popular with European film crews and has been featured in Absinthe movies More and Futureproof, as well as Pirate Movies Productions Walk the Plank, and Isen7's Ubermovie. The Novapark is Austria's biggest snowpark and has been honered several times for park design and lines. If you are looking for somewhere different this winter, look no further, this place is heaven...

Where is Silvretta Nova?
Silvretta Nova lies in the Austrian Alps two hours drive from Zurich. The closest village is St. Gallenkirch, a traditional Austrian Alpine village. The Intersport NovaPark & NovaProPark is located in the Silvretta Nova (Montafon), below the Madrisella chairlift.

Best thing about Silvretta Nova?

The best thing about Silvretta Nova is the unbelieveable diversity of the resort, along with the high amount of snow it gets every winter. First class Freeriding can be found even many days after the last snowfall and the Intersport Novapark offers everything a snowboarder can dream of. Even when the weather is really bad one can have a decent session there on the many easy jibs. There is absolutely no day in winter a lift ticket isn't worth it's price in Silvretta Nova!

Worst thing about Silvretta Nova?
It's hard to find a bad thing to say, but if we are fussy, it is that there is no own parklift. After every run you have to go down all the way to the madrisella chairlift. Well, the run is not bad and the lift is a fast one with 6 chairs, but still it limits you in the number of parkruns you can make every day..

When is the best time to visit?
The best time of year to visit Silvretta Nova is without a doubt March. The huge masses of tourists are gone then, there's lots of snow and a really good chance for powder still. The Intersport Novapark reaches the peak of it's size and quality and the snow is getting softer on the sunny days!

Local riders/ heros:
Lots of Silvretta Nova locas rule, but the most famous one is for sure Marco Feichtner, who rocks the movies of Pirate Movie Productions and Absinthe Films.
