Most
snowboard mags just display products and
tell you a bit about them - sure, it keeps
their advertisers happy, but for you this
is no more useful than looking at the catalogue.
At Step-On we test products properly so
that you know the real score...all the technical
reviews on this site have been tested by
either pro or experienced snowboarders. |

Military Jacket
by Helly Hansen
As always, the Helly Hansen gear has impressed
us yet again this season mainly due to it's
high quality and durability. Co-designed by
Finnish snowboarder Jussi Tarvainen, the military
jacket is just one of a huge range available
this season. The styling is of course heavily
influenced by the armed forces, so much so that
you might even be able to pass yourself off
as Swiss customs on the slopes if you rock this
jacket.
The heavy duty style and abundence of pockets
make this jacket great for freeriding. It also
features zip-off sleeves, fully taped seams,
powder skirt, wrist gaiters, and a load of other
stuff.
As well as black, this is also available in
snow camo.

Stinger Lo boots
by EMU
EMU has been keeping Australian surfers and
the wider populous stylish and warm for decades.
Based in the wool capital of Australia, Geelong,
just minutes from the world renowned surfing
centre of Bells Beach, the very first EMU sheepskin
boots were hand made and worn by surfers after
winter sessions along this rugged and famous
stretch of the Great Ocean Road.
The Stinger Lo boots are made from 100% Australian
premium sheepskin. The boots feature a reinforced
leather heel counter for extra fit and support
as well as an Emusole, a durable 2 part moulded
sole, of dual density EVA with a moulded rubber
outsole with Emu tread for extra traction.
Perfect for the UK summer, the sheepskin acts
as a natural thermostat. Ideal for all weather
conditions it wicks away moisture from the skin
when warm thus cooling the skin, as well as
insulating and warming the feet when cold.

Antti Autti signature shoe
by Kustom
Kustoms new skate shoes range from minimal whites
to skulls and alike. Finnish ripper Antti Autti
is the latest snow/skate celebrity to put his
name to a shoe. Clearly taking inspiration from
the original Vans half-cab skate shoes, the old
skool style of these high tops will not only make
you look good, they might even save your ankles
from sprains should you not land those kickflips
quite perfectly.
Also pictured are the Edison and Katalyst.

Street Headphones
by We
As you'd expect from the Swedes these headphones
are super stylish, but when it comes to your
music you want quality too. Rumour has it that
Sennheiser actually manufactued the headphone
range for Wesc, and while we can't confirm whether
that is true, we can confirm that the quality
of these headphones is very good, with a very
deep sounds produced. The only downside to the
Street phones is they aren't very tight fitting
(unless you've got a big head), so they don't
always stay on if you're thinking of trying
to skate or snowboard in them.

Link Goggles
by Zeal Optics
Since their launch in Europe, Zeal are proving
to be a popular brand, known for putting quality
first. The Link is probably the most popular
of the Zeal range for snowboarders, combining
a nice shape which fits the face well, with
great performance.
In testing the Links were comfortable, very
durable, and the lens stayed clear in all conditions.
My only criticism would be that the Links don't
provide a massive peripheral range of vision
compared with the Detonators, Zeals top of the
range goggles.
The thoughtful people at Zeal also give you
a cammo carry case so they don't get squished
in your board bag

EG1 Goggles
by Electric
Jees...goggles really have come a long way since
the days when I first started snowboarding and
I was embarrassed to wear these chunky white
things that made me look like I'd turned up
to do some radiation testing...
The EG1 is Electrics classic style goggle, which
really hasn't changed much in shape since they
first came out 4 seasons ago. Each season the
EG1 just receives a facelift, and this season
Electirc have gone for some pretty funky designs.
For those more concerned with function than
style, rest assured the EG1's performance in
the snow still remains really good.
You can check out the full range on the Electric
web site. www.electricvisual.com
