Who'd have thought it possible
to have a ski resort slap bang on the south
cost of Spain only a stones throw away from
the warm beaches of the Medeterranian sea...?
Well this is the reality of Sierra Nevada, probably
Spain's premier snowboard resort, which lies
on the mountain range of the south-east cost.
The resort is very freestyle orientated with
a good snowpark featuring boxes, rails, and
some large kickers. Aside from the park, the
resort is littered with natural freestyle terrain
such as windlips, gullies, etc. One of the best
places to ride if the snow is good is La Laguna
- this place is freestyle heaven! Just check
it out and you'll see. There's plenty going
on all season with comps and jams happening
every month.
The nightlife is very lively, after dark the
resort goes off! The most popular bars for snowboarders
are the Chicle or the Sticky bar. The partying
usually continues way into the morning.
Travel to Sierra Nevada is pretty easy - the
closest airport is Granada, only 20 minutes
away. Buses run daily to the resort.
The best way to experience this area is to get
up early and snowboard in the morning, then
head to the beach for the afternoon! Nothing
beats it.
