Breck is undoubtedly one of the birth
places of snowboarding. The 04/05 season
was officially the 20th anniversary of
snowboarding in Breck, as it was one of
the only resorts to open its mountain
to snowboarding in 1984. In the late 90's
the parks evolved into what they are today.
Entire runs are dedicated to snowboarding
with multiple jumps in a row and smooth
lines to be had everywhere.
Breck currently has 4 halfpipes, along
with 4 parks.
The smallest of them is set up purely
for beginners with small jumps, short
boxes, low rails and a mini pipe. The
next step up is Trygves Park, which consists
of a variety of slightly larger rails,
jumps and pipe. This is perfect for shredders
who know how to snowboard, but are still
getting used to freestyle terrain. Then
there's Gold King Park which offers a
whole run with sections featuring medium
sized table-tops, handrails and boxes.

The Freeway Park on Peak 8 is the largest
of all the parks. On the left it features
a double line of jumps. In the middle a variety
of handrails and boxes and on the right, new
this year features a triple line of monster
table-tops. This leads into the superpipe
with a 17ft tranny and 18ft walls, followed
by even more rails and jibs at the bottom.
Then it's a 7 minute chair ride to the top...The
town itself has loads of good resaurants,
Mexican, Chinese, French, Italian and Jamaican.
During happy hour you can grab $2 baskets
of hot wings from Mi Casa and to wash it down
$1 beer or $4 pitchers are
available.
If it's gear you're after or a new stick
there are loads of places that stock snowboard
equipment. Big Hit, the Underground, and Mountain
Wave are probably the best places to check
out.
Nightlife is pretty good, lots of bars and
clubs. Serpa & Yeti's, Cecilia's, Salt
Creek are just some of the hot spots. If you
fancy a chilled evening then Liquid Lounge
or Rita's are the places to go.
Lodging in Breck is usually of a high standard,
hot tubs are widely available and cable comes
as standard. Some good lodging options are
The Great Divide, Fireside Inn, Beaver Run
Resort, The Village and River Mountain Lodge.
Breck is located approximately 100 miles from
Denver and is only a 1 3/4 hr journey from
the airport.
Transfers are available from CME (Colorado
Mountain Express) for about $56 per person.
