Fingathing Album Launch - Superhero Music
CARGOLONDON2002

The only problem with press launches is …the amount of press there - music press are a breed of their own and they are not overly friendly to outsiders or if you are not wearing the latest import trainer!! I felt a bit out of my depth as I entered the Cobden Club in West London last week - but I plunged in head first making the most of the free flowing Red Stripe - I was expecting to meet Alex and Andy from Step-On but they were too scared to come to London and stayed out in the country where it is safe and warm!!! (Ed. We were scared of Karen flirting with us)

These movers and shakers of the London music scene were all there to sup free booze courtesy of Grand Central Records and experience a small taste of FINGATHING.

So on with the show - the visuals courtesy of Chris Drury were superb and Peter Parker and Sneaky's enthusiasm and stage presence were inspiring - the sight of a scratch DJ makes me weak at the knees (I am so shallow!) 'chicks love guys who scratch' - and the body convulsions coming from Sneaky as he plucked and caressed his skeletal double bass made for a surprising and interesting visual presence on stage.

Belting out tracks from the new album the boys were clearly loving every minute of it - they were not givin' the bad-boy hip-hop attitude or the cooler than cool DJ slide - they were just playing the music they had created and enjoying the moment. 'Superhero Music' and 'Criminal Robots' were fantastic and their 35 minute set was a barrage of sound and vision - not perfectly polished with gaps for Parker to change records and banter with the crowd but that just made it all the better to me - down-to-earth, no-bullshit, über-talented Northern boys Get On!!!

Thanks to Geraldine and David at In House Press and Grand Central Records and of course Fingathing for letting the Step-On minimal catch a sneak preview.
