Increasingly
in the modern snowboarding and skateboarding
world, the pressure on riders and photographers
to get that "perfect trick" or "perfect
shot" is higher each season. People seem
to want to see every trick executed without
any hint of sketchyness. Every rotation has
to be perfectly flat, and every grab held clean
throughout the whole trick....this is frankly
not representative of what snowboarding or skateboarding
is really like. Riders slam more often than
not, and there is no need to cover it up. It's
all part of the fun and games. Just like hitting
the crossbar with a football with a sweetly
struck volley can sometimes be more fun than
actually scoring! Boof....Bang....Oooh!
So with this months photo gallery by photographer
Nicolas Buechi we are saluting the slam! Each
of these photos captures the moment before the
slam, the milliseconds when the rider is going
through the psychological acceptance of their
fate; pain, and lots of it...
