It's
mid february, and while thousands flock
to the Northern French Alps, fantasising about
more snowfall....literally eating, sleeping, and
drinking ski, snow, and the lifestyle that goes
with it, I decided to take a trip just 30 minutes
out of the mountains to the town of Thonnon Les
Bains. Follow a steep winding road down to Lac
Leman and it's like a different world, so close
but yet so far from the hustle and bustle of some
of the world's premier ski resorts. On a misty
day like this one you wouldn't even know the mountains
were there.
People eat ice creams, couples hold hands, men
walk their dogs, and sail boats which in a few
months will be polished proudly by frenchmen with
over inflated bank balances, for now sit gathering
stray snowflakes and growing algi on their hulls.
Despite being quite busy, Thonnon had a definite
calmness on this day. With this gallery I have
attemped to capture this calmness and tranquility,
and show that there is more to the French Alps
than the French Alps.
