about our camps
The Resort
Our winter camps for 2008 are in Avoriaz, France. This amazing resort is one of the largest ski areas in the world and so as well as endless off-piste and backcountry terrain, there are also 6 snowparks for us to ride. There are several beginner-specific snowparks, two pro-level snowparks, and new for this season and unique to Avoriaz, The Stash - Burton's 'all natural' snowpark running through the forest with obstacles and jibs shaped from logs. This is really fun to ride!

Chalet Snowboard have been based in Morzine-Avoriaz for over 15 years. Our guides know the area like the back of their hand and will be able to help you get the most our of the terrain no matter what your ability level or the snow conditions.

Coaching

Coaching on the camps runs from Monday-Friday, for around 3 hours each day.

Our coaches are professional/sponsored freestyle riders with years of riding experience. They will ride with you each day and endeavor to help you improve your riding and most of all learn how to get the most fun out of snowboarding. Riders who have coached on our camps in the past include Mike Austin, Gary Greenshields, Joel Erith, Andrew Winter, and John Ludvigsen.

All-in-all our coaching sessions are very relaxed and we will never force anyone to do anything. If you prefer to take it easy and cruise the pistes, that's fine with us.

Coaching focuses on areas like kickers, halfpipe, boxes, rails, riding powder, and jibbing around pistes.

Note on Ability levels
Our camps attract riders of various ability levels, but there is a minimum level required. Before attempting to progress into freestyle riding it is important that you have the fundamental snowboard skills in place.

You must be able to ride green, blue, and red pistes with confidence at speed, link turns quickly and controlled, and preferably be able to pop an ollie.

If you are unsure of your ability level feel free to contact us and we will be able to guide you as to whether the camp is right for you.
