about our camps
The Resort and Terrain you'll be riding
Our camps have always been based in Avoriaz, France. This amazing resort is one of the largest ski areas in the world, so as well as endless off-piste and backcountry terrain, there are also over 5 snowparks for us to ride.

Our guides and coaches know the area like the back of their hand and will be able to help you get the most our of the terrain no matter what your ability level or the snow conditions.

Avoriaz has a beginner-intermediate snowpark, halfpipe, pro level snowpark, and now "The Stash", a bio park consisting of natural obstacles running through a 2km tree run.

As well as riding the snowpark we will take you off-piste in small groups to get a taste for riding natural jumps, rock drops, and powder (weather permitting).

Accommodation
Chalet Snowboard has its own chalet specifically designed for snowboarders, with plenty of features to help you relax after a days riding. The chalet is located just 300 metres from the Avoriaz cable car and is a modern 3 story converted farmhouse, equipped with traditional log fire, TV, DVDs, X-Box, board games, board servicing rooms, hot tub, and wifi internet.

Food
Breakfast - cereals, jams, bread, eggs, coffee, tea
Afternoon Tea - homemade cakes with hot tea and coffee to re-energise you after the day of riding
Dinner - a hearty 3 course meal cooked by our in-house chef, served with as much wine as you can drink.

Coaching

Coaching on the camps runs from Monday-Friday, for around 3 hours each day, focusing on riding kickers, halfpipe, boxes, rails, off-piste/powder, and jibbing around pistes.

Our coaching program is flexible to every individual - we will ask you what you want to learn and cater the coaching to suit you. This flexible approach means you will hopefully have a more fulfilling experience and improve in the areas of snowboarding that you want.

Our coaches are professional/sponsored freestyle riders with years of riding experience. They will ride with you each day and help you to improve your riding and most of all learn how to get the most fun out of snowboarding. Riders who have coached on our camps in the past include Mike Austin, Gary Greenshields, Joel Erith, Andrew Winter, and John Ludvigsen.

Your snowboard coach will meet you in the morning and ride with you until lunchtime. Each coach generally takes a maximum of around 5 people in their group to ensure you get the attention you need.

All-in-all our coaching sessions are very relaxed and we will never force anyone to do anything. If you prefer to take it easy and cruise the pistes, that's fine with us.

Note on Ability levels
Our camps attract riders of various ability levels, but there is a minimum level required. Before attempting to progress into freestyle riding it is important that you have the fundamental snowboard skills in place.

You must be able to ride green, blue, and red pistes with confidence at speed, link turns quickly and controlled, and preferably be able to pop an ollie.

If you are unsure of your ability level feel free to contact us and we will be able to guide you as to whether the camp is right for you.

Note on Safety
Freestyle snowboarding comes with a high risk of injury. You can reduce the chance of serious injury by wearing appropriate protective clothing. Impact shorts, back protectors, and helmets are used commonly in freestyle snowboarding and while we do not enforce any protective clothing, we do recommend it.
