primal scream

Hello this is gorgeous, anybody out there read me?"
"10-4 I read you"
"My handle's gorgeous, pretty vacant, eh?"
"Subvert normality"
"?"
"Punk is not sexual, it's just aggression"
"10-4 good buddies"
"Destroy, Kill all hippies"
"Anarchy, disco sucks"
"Subvert normality"

Punked up funked up and with more amplification than the afterburners on an A10 tankbuster, the scream are back and touring with thier latest thoroughbred offering EVIL HEAT, and this is one sick fucked up evil badboy of an album.
We checked out Bobby, Mani and the crew at the Brixton academy, London town and got our just deserves and then some.

One of the things I admire most about primal scream are there ability to change there style quite considerably from every album, since the days of "moving on up" and "screamadelica" they seem to have taken a more underground and progressive stance, mixing the same old dubiliciuos flavor's with rapid bpm's and heavy guitar resulting in a completely original form of what can only be described as balls out rock and roll. In these days of mainstream rock and punk you have to be somewhat dubious about the whole movement, but the scream have history and these boys aint scared to fucking rock the shit out of the place, it was only a week before Sept. 11th when Bobby Gillespie was screaming BOMB BOMB the PENTAGON at the shepherds bush empire!!!!!
Personally ive always held primal scream in uppermost respect from day one but since the release of the vanishing point album back in the 90's they seem to have taken a far less mainstream position in music, This is unusual for a band which at one time probably the leading figure in the at then massive indy scene. Most of there contemporaries have either split up or relecutantly had to change there style to try and survive....but not the scream.

The opportunity to go less mainstream seems to have been received with open arms at camp Scream, more than likely and definitely noticeable in the last few albums they seem to have been able to uncensor both there lyrics and musical style breaking free from the traditional rock pop of the indy days and diving head first into the experimental lands of beats breaks bass and politics. The Scream seem to have matured into a band representing what rock and roll is all about sex drugs blinding live shows and most importance arrogance! and a self asurity backed by a blinding ability.
The show at Brixton was not unlike most primal scream performances, as usual it was raw, looking more like a open mic session at the pub as opposed to a full on concert, lo fi to the max just how we likeit. The money which the band saved on set though obviously went on the lights because we were met by a barrage

The likes of the of the white stripes and the strokes should go back to stroking their cocks because the Brits ARE back with vengeance and with yet another dirty underground sound the scream are a force to be reckoned with. believe.
"Signing off, this is gorgeous signing off"
