DJ Yoda at the Roadmender

"do, or do not. there is no try." - master yoda

dj yoda
is to the dj world what jonas emery is to the snowboarding world..he has got to such an advanced level within his chosen profession that he chooses to completely take the piss! jonas can be seen at comps and demos busting monkey flips, lay-backs, and the classic nollie frontflip...he is taking it to the next level, and not taking it too seriously at the same time. when dj yoda drops the rainbow theme tune in with samples from porn movies and scratches the shit out of it on top it is clear that the boy has some serious skills on the decks, and yet he is just having fun, and so is the crowd.

it was nice to see northamptons roadmender packed out, ceilings sweating just like the good old days as 100's turned up to witness dj yoda, starting his set with no other than the star wars theme, you can't help but have a huge smile on your chevy chase like when you're driving a sports car at 140. you wanna look cool but you just can't help but sit there with the widest fucking grin, and as much as you try not to look like a twat it is impossible, you know what i mean man....mixing it straight into billy jean though and the place erupted! it was a typical dj yoda set...old skool, theme tunes, and samples combined with technical scratching and cuts like you've never seen, with plenty of raw hip hop thrown in just to keep the bling boys happy! the grange hill theme tune went down just nicely, especially when it's combined with the bass line to wu-tang clan ain't nothin to fuck with. and as for the the inspector gadget theme drum n bass remix, we're talking the bad shit!

in a club world that's dominated by pretentious rude boy white rapper wannabe gangsters it's great to see a guy who ain't mixed up in all that, and just does what a DJ should do...play music that makes people feel good whilst still havin the skills to pay the bills.
isn't that what it's all about?
